Thanks to IWR for providing me with a wonderful workshop experience in Cape Town. The workshop was quite enjoyable and informative, delivered in a well-structured manner. It provided me with an excellent learning opportunity and facilitated my research work.

I have already began to utilize many of the methods and techniques acquired during the workshop, such as application of an optimal control, parameter estimation and simulation, as well as Numerical Simulations with the Finite Element Method. The workshop has made me confident in my research abilities. I look forward to participate in future training.

I would once again like to extend my gratitude to the training for enriching me with new skills.

The workshop on mathematical modelling and scientific computing was an eye-opener for me. The level at which mathematics was applied to solve real life's problem was strange to me in a pleasant way. The lectures were highly interactive and hands-on. The usefulness of finite element method was really touched on, I honestly didn't know before attending the workshop that it has that level of applicability in the industry. It will not be an overstatement to say that the workshop completely changed my approach to applied mathematical research, I think more now of the applicability of every new concepts that I am learning. IWR is truly what they say it is: 'where methods meet application'.

I was accepted at IWR-AIMS Summer School workshop with full funding in January 2017. At the school, I have learnt advanced courses in Industrial Modelling and Scientific Computing, Optimization and Optimal Control. The Summer School not only exposed me to several applications of Mathematics in Industry and Technology, but it also provided me with the opportunity to interact with excellent German scientists from Interdisciplinary Center for Scientific Computing (IWR) of Universität Heidelberg. In addition, I had a wonderful opportunity to know my fellow students from across the African continent. I really enjoyed the whole week, especially the excursion we had together in Cape Town. I am quite grateful to both AIMS and IWR for giving me this wonderful opportunity. I would like to especially thank the organizing committee of the Summer School for the excellent organization of the programme as well as for their kind support from the beginning of the application process till the very end of the programme.
